Rio de Janeiro
May 11th, 2009 | Posted by in 16-BrazilFinally, we are up to date with our posts, quite a barrage for one day wouldn’t you say! We have arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but haven’t had any time to explore. We have a tour booked for tomorrow so that will be pretty full on. We are two blocks off Copacabana Beach.
All I can say at this point is it’s huge…some 6 million people here. The only photos I have are those taken on the plane. We are being continually warned by the hostel staff to take only enough cash for the day. Some of the guests that we’ve met here have been mugged but nothing too serious – they just handed over the cash.
We haven’t met anyone yet who had a bad word to say about Rio (apart from crime) so we are quite excited to get out and about. Christ the Redeemer, one of the new 7 wonders of the world, is the big draw for us – bring it on!
More from us later.

Dear Davey and Sam!
You did and saw a lot in the time that you spend in South America! Wow!
What do you think about it so far? Feeling safe (because we talked about this a lot before you went)?
We are in San Francisco at the moment en we love this city! We’ve been already in Los Angeles en our next stop is Las Vegas. After that we need to make a new plan for a few days/weeks.
We stay in America until the 3th of July, then we go to Costa Rica and the 17th of July we are in Lima.
Would be great to meet you there!
We’ll keerp in touch and enjoy (and safe) travels!
Greetz!
Danny en Janneke.
