Tararua Forest Park
March 23rd, 2009 | Posted by in 12-New ZealandWhile staying at Lindsey and Tom’s we went for a 3–4 hour bush walk (tramping in NZ) through Tararua Forest Park and had lunch cooked on an open fire by the river. Living in Wainuiomata, they are in the heart of the forest park with access to countless walks and beautiful scenery.
We went equipped with a frying pan, billy (kettle pot), mugs and plenty of sausages and burgers. Having lunch on-the-go is not something we’ve ever done before but something we’ll definitely do again. We could have camped there all night but after 3 hours chatting it was time to head back before dark.
The scenery throughout was amazing and having such knowledgeable guides made it all the more interesting. As you know this type of activity is right up our street and we enjoyed the experience immensely. Thank you guys again it was a fantastic day out!
