I think we mentioned earlier that we were heading south to Wellington to visit Sam’s aunt and uncle, Lindsey and Tom and cousins Heather and Hollie for a few days. It just so happened that St. Patricks Day would fall while we were there so I said I’d cook the family a traditional irish dish for dinner.
Earlier in the day Sam, Hollie and I went into to Wellington to collect Sam’s engagement ring and then went for a pint at Molly Malones Irish Bar. Having had the taste for it we could have stayed all day, but I had to drive and dinner to cook.
It was a toss up betwwen stew or bacon, cabbage and spuds, the latter won the vote. Everybody complained at the enormours portion sizes but managed to down the lot. Cans of Guinness, beer and wine soon followed in traditional Irish style with some lively chat and great craic!
