Kayaking in MK

May 13th, 2007 | Posted by Davey in Pre-Travel Posts

Following our successful trip to the Forest of Dean, we decided we were going to give this kayaking lark a go, surely it can’t be that hard…..

Milton Keynes Canoe Club had an open day on Saturday, ‘come and try’….so off we went, baring in mind it was a wet miserable day with quite a strong breeze.

Got there are Sam chickened out, “it’s too cold”, but I was determined. I was in the kayak for about 40 mins, and couldn’t believe how hard it was to manoeuvre. Previously, I though, a few lessons, then head for the white water. I think I’ll be giving that a miss for a while. It might take more than a few lessons.

Oh yea, no spray deck, which meant I was soaked to the bone, freezing my ass off…nice!

When I woke on Sunday, I felt like I had gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson, shoulders, back, neck we all aching. Under instruction, I done some of Sam’s yoga posses which helped me stretch and loosen up…worked a treat.

In hindsight, maybe I was a little to eager…but still enjoyed it.
