Our New Campervan – LillySeptember 11th, 2005 | Posted by in Pre-Travel Posts
We are so excited with our new camping accessory we couldn’t wait to get it on our blog. As we do so much camping and get totally peaved off with having to store all our camping equipment in the loft, constantly up and down, up and down and ramming the car full of gear…we thought a van would be the only option!
The previous owner said she was called Lilly, hence the writing on the front, and in similar fashion to boating or sailing we thought it would be bad luck to rename her. She is a Volkswagen Transporter 78PS, 1,915 Petrol – 25MPG (Hmm…). She is absolutely fantastic to drive and quite nippy…for a VW that is – I had 75 out of her yesterday but she wasn’t to keen, she prefers around the 55 Mph mark.
Inside she has a rock and roll double bed and 2 berths in roof , a 2 burner hob and grill in excellent condition, a refrigerator, a sink and drainer with brand new fresh water pump – fresh water tank holding 40 litres. The most important element – central heating with a thermostat…wow!
